Weathervane Senior Living Community Set to Open in Fall 2025

CARLISLE, Pa. -- The Residence at Carlisle, a new Weathervane Senior Living community set to open this fall, is poised to make a meaningful impact in the region – bringing dozens of new jobs and expanding access to high-quality senior care under the guidance of a seasoned leadership team.

Executive Operations Officer Karrie Guiles has nearly 20 years of senior care experience as a Personal Care Home Administrator, Medication Technician Trainer and Certified Dementia Practitioner.

“Our leadership team is driven by the shared goal of ensuring each resident experiences a fulfilling life, rooted in dignity and joy,” Guiles said. “We want to make The Residence at Carlisle a place where residents, families and staff feel supported and valued.”

With more than two decades of experience, Community Relations Director Heidi Lyons has helped countless seniors and their families navigate some of life’s most pivotal transitions. Her compassionate guidance and deep understanding of senior care have made her a trusted resource during these important decisions.

“My true passion is helping seniors decide where and how they want to spend their time. It’s an honor to walk alongside them and hear their stories,” said Lyons, whose leadership is rooted not only in professional expertise but also through a personal connection to caregiving shaped by her own grandparents’ journey through aging.

The Residence at Carlisle is a newly-built, 80,000-square-foot senior living community with 80 apartments – 20 in memory care and 60 in personal care. The building is located at 400 Christian Loop Road on the site of the former iconic Smith family farm, minutes from downtown Carlisle.

The community is projected to open in November 2025 and is expected to create between 75 and 100 new jobs.

“The Residence at Carlisle is a significant addition to senior living in this region,” said Terri Sanelli, Regional Director of Operations for Weathervane Senior Living. “This community was thoughtfully designed to support both personal care and memory care needs, with 80 modern apartments and a wide range of amenities. The community honors the area’s legacy while providing a vibrant, supportive environment for older adults and their families.”

Backed by three decades of nursing experience, Sanelli brings both operational rigor and heartfelt dedication to the communities she oversees at the regional level.

“We’re excited to bring this much-needed resource to Cumberland County, and we’re confident in the leadership team’s ability to guide the community through a successful opening and establish it as a trusted destination for senior care,” Sanelli said.

A year ago, Sanelli successfully led the grand opening of another Weathervane Senior Living community -- The Residence at Village Greens in Berks County. At the time, she served as the Executive Operations Officer of the community located in Sinking Spring. In her current role as Regional Director of Operations, Sanelli now oversees both the Village Greens and Carlisle communities.

“Weathervane Senior Living creates communities where seniors thrive, families feel peace of mind, and caregivers find purpose,” Sanelli said. “When we care for our team like family – with respect, opportunity, and heart – they’re empowered to bring joy and fulfillment to the lives of our residents every day.”

The leadership team at Carlisle completely embraces that mission.

“Our leadership team brings a powerful combination of experience and passion to the community,” said Guiles, who is currently pursuing a degree in psychology to deepen her understanding of human behavior and aging. “That knowledge helps shape our approach to care. Our focus is on personalized support, ensuring that every resident receives services tailored to their individual needs, whether in personal care, memory care or respite services. We strive to create a warm, engaging environment where social connection and overall well-being are always at the forefront.”

“We are committed to staff development and service excellence, and have built a compassionate, highly skilled team,” added Lyons. “Through thoughtful leadership and innovative programs, The Residence at Carlisle is creating a new benchmark for senior living.”
